Check to see if your toe can still move side to side (mild to moderate stage). Wash and heat-mold the splint before using it for the first time. Do not use while walking. For the first 3 uses, it is recommended that you wear the splint for only 2 hours. For subsequent uses, wear the splint all night. Joint pain may be felt during the first few uses. If the pain persists beyond 7 nights, consult your podiatrist. After wearing the splint for 1 month and if there is no pain, a second heat-forming process may be performed to increase the correction. The desired correction will then be achieved without the spreader, but by pulling the big toe laterally. The device must be worn daily for optimal effectiveness. Thermoforming: Thermoforming involves shaping the reinforcement of the nighttime hallux valgus splint to fit your foot. This process can be repeated 4 to 5 times to increase the degree of correction. It can be done at home in just a few minutes. Do not use the splint on a skin lesion. Do not use if the big toe can no longer move sideways. For individuals with diabetes, arteritis, polyneuropathy, lower limb neuropathy, or varicose ulcers: consult your doctor or podiatrist, then monitor your foot while using the brace. Right/Left: Can be worn on either the right or left foot (before heat-molding). The nighttime hallux valgus splint is machine washable at 30°C or can be hand-washed (without rubbing) with soap and water. Allow to air dry. Do not expose to heat (> 50°C). Discard and replace the device as soon as cracks appear in the gel or the fabric or seams show signs of wear.
