Painful and/or febrile conditions:
SUITABLE FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN WEIGHING 30 KG OR MORE (approximately 11–12 years old).
1 sachet (400 mg) per dose; repeat if necessary after 6 hours. In all cases, do not exceed 3 sachets of 400 mg per day (1,200 mg per day).
The 400-mg sachet is reserved for more severe pain or fever, or for pain or fever not relieved by a 200-mg ibuprofen sachet.
Taking the medication at regular intervals helps prevent fluctuations in pain or fever.
Doses should be spaced at least 6 hours apart.
Dissolve the sachets in half a glass of water and take them preferably with a meal.
Pregnancy:
Starting at the beginning of the 6th month of pregnancy (24 weeks of amenorrhea): any use of SPEDIFEN 400 mg film-coated tablets, even a single dose, is contraindicated. Even a single dose taken from 24 weeks of amenorrhea warrants an ultrasound examination of the heart and kidneys of the fetus and/or newborn.
Unless absolutely necessary, SPEDIFEN 400 mg film-coated tablets should not be prescribed to women who are planning to become pregnant or during the first 5 months of pregnancy (before 24 weeks of amenorrhea). If prescribed, the dose should be as low as possible and the duration of treatment as short as possible. Prolonged use is strongly discouraged.
Breastfeeding:
Ibuprofen and its breakdown products/metabolites pass into breast milk. However, no effects on the breastfed newborn or infant are expected when SPEDIFEN 400 mg film-coated tablets are administered at therapeutic doses. Since the harmful effects on the infant are still unknown, it is generally not necessary to discontinue breastfeeding during short-term treatment at the recommended dose for mild to moderate pain and fever.
Fertility:
If ibuprofen is administered to a woman trying to conceive, the dose should be as low as possible and the duration of treatment as short as possible.
Taking this medication does not replace the usual measures to help relieve a migraine attack: lie down in a quiet, dark room. You can improve the effectiveness of the medication by taking the following steps:
- remove any heavy clothing,
- drink fluids regularly to avoid dehydration,
- avoid staying in a place that is too hot.
With this medication, your fever should subside quickly. However:
- if other unusual symptoms appear,
- if the fever lasts more than 3 days or gets worse,
- if headaches become severe, or if you experience vomiting.
If pain persists for more than 5 days, SEE YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY.
