Phyto
While styling the world’s top celebrities and royalty in his own salon in one of Paris’s most exclusive neighborhoods, PATRICK ALÈS discovers the power of plants. A few years earlier, he had acquired an old house in the South of France. Upstairs, in the attic, he found old jars containing oils and dried plants preserved by the former owner, a herbalist and healer. And while he was making a name for himself with his scissors, and a little later with the blow-dry he invented in 1964, PATRICK ALÈS was already thinking about how to relieve the hands of his shampooers, damaged by certain aggressive products. With his wife’s help, he concocted his first hair care products in his garage, mixing plants in an old baker’s dough. He was convinced that if plants had cosmetic virtues for the skin, they were bound to have them for the hair. And so, in 1969, the Phyto laboratories were born, with Phyto 7, Phyto 9, Phytovolume, Phytopolleine, Phytocolors and the whole range you know.
